I am developing a custom robotic car using a SparkFun RedBoard and a motor driver, allowing the car to perform forward, backward, and rotational movements. This project focuses on embedded systems, motor control, and real-time firmware development, as I program the RedBoard to interface with the motor driver and control the car’s movement with precision. To enhance its functionality, I have ordered an accelerometer, to enable the car to balance and move on only two wheels, adding a substantial challenge in stability control and dynamic motion adjustment. Additionally, I plan to incorporate SparkFun’s voice recognition module, allowing for voice-commanded interactions, and making the system more intuitive. As the project progresses, I will expand its functionalities by including Bluetooth connectivity, remote operation, and sensor-based autonomy such as light following/repellent behavior and object detection. Still, these more advanced features will only be implemented once the core movement functionalities function properly.
